Laurel Skye's Mysteries Revealed Diary (entry #2) the Uncovered Case of the Tempered Glass (which is still being held in questioning) Intro I Call It Art, all the things we throw away. Useless, broken, cracked, chipped, mangled items. What good is it? One man's trash is another man's Mosaic Art! Evidence/Case in point: Safety glass. Crash glass. An old glass door, a window from a car in the junk yard, shattered. Trash? I don't think so. Situation I pick up these pieces of shattered safety glass, all held together like webs made of kaleidoscopic crystalline fractures. I call them "little islands". I pick up these little delicate islands, like snowflakes, and then layer them over old photos, sequins, paint, gold leaf, mylar, foils, and with a little bit of epoxy to sandwich it all together... Outcome Voila! and Art is born! You've got innovative new incredibly durable flooring, counter tops, icons and treasures. Come and see. Let your eyes explore, and the fires in your soul be lit, and your imagination be expanded, and the artist in you be inspired! Summary of Case Ever want to push the envelope, just a little? Try something new and fresh. Take a dream and build it so that others might see into your realms of vision. Take the old and forgotten shards of yesterdays' broken pieces out of their places and out of context, slipping them into a whole new setting, where they are a part of a bigger creation, and taking you to a whole new perspective and vision that is beyond where you once stood. It is like flying. No; like soaring. Skyelab. Laurel Skye Studios. -All in a good day's work- © 2005, 2007 Laurel Skye |
